after a little time in the shade the ALENA brand is working it's way back into the limelight, we were lucky enough to help out Jeremy add the final touches to a really cool project he's just finishing up called the "ancestor" series .Be on the lookout for the new hard and soft goods at finer skateshops in your area...

Sure it's only a second, but it's in a beer commercial so it's extra cool. look for an Alba clock at the start of the ad.

Lasers are awesome, we just finished cutting out a bunch of trophy's for our design friends rita there are for an independant music gala and are made from laser cut records....rad.

// NEW HULGER PHONE!

Today is the day my friends, the wooden skype phone we have been working on for the past few months with the fine folks at Hulger in the UK just dropped, here are some pics of it....you can only imagine how proud of it we are!

As another little project we did a booth for our friends at Bruxe for the Know?Show lifesyle tradeshow in Vancouver and Montreal....I also cut them out some custom lettering on the new laser machine...

We teamed up with the find folks at "Bruxe" who make some killer luxury bags to make a limited run of clocks that are going out to their top tier retailers....look out for them at a dope boutique near you!

A good buddy of ours over at weaponshouse contacted us to do some work on a Trophy for Red Bull's Soapbox Derby in Vancouver, here's what we came up with.

MONTREAL OPENING RECEPTION AND “ART CRAWL” SATURDAY, JUNE 28

Etnies and Color Magazine asked skaters to shoot a photo of themselves from their own perspective, skateboarding. Over 200 portraits have been collected from skaters across Canada, the United States and as far as Japan. With the help of Fourstar Clothing, a selection of these self portraits of pro skateboarders, artists, and other talented individuals have been composed into an exhibition in celebration of skateboarding.

Come on out and check out the show and take a look at the special edition cigar boxes we created for the show to house a couple magazines, T-shirt and wheels all to celebrate this killer show!

It's not everyday that an awesome new design shop opens just down the street, but yesterday was such a day. We were contacted by the owner of the shop about a month ago for some goods and last night we had some on show at the Domison boutique opening...here's a couple pics...

Furni and our fine friends at Rekognize design are serving up another fine series of artist enhanced "Alba" clocks that will premier at Mount Tremblants Ski and Snowboard "Spin" festival. It all kicks off March 28th 2008 and goes till April 6th. Clocks not sold at the event will be available for purchase online on our store April 12th onwards, add yourself to our mailing list if you want to be alerted when they are online (top right corner) ..... So we just wrapped up production of a new collaborative effort between The fine folks at Beautiful Decay Mag and yours truly, available now at our online shop and theirs get em while they are hot!

// "SHOW US YOUR CANADIAN MUSTACHES" WINNER

Our second comp just wrapped up, what a way to bring in the new year! For the "Show us your Canadian Mustaches" comp all you had to do was send us a picture of you dressed like the latest “Furni meet Big Chief” cutout toy (brought to you by the fine folks at Big Chief Design in Milan Italy)by Jan 1st 2008! Heck the dudes at Big Chief design even created a mustache template to get contestants started! for a look at all the entries click here. The winner was Scott Krawitz of 10ton(studio) in Massachusetts in the U S of A. He will be getting his very own one of a kind "Furni X Big Chief" Alba clock!

// "SHOW US YOUR SKILLS" WINNER ANNOUNCED

What an awesome way to start the new year, we just announced the winner to our design your own clock competition that we called "Show Us Your Skills" it's Greg Wolos. His design the "Emily" is spot on and will make a great addition to a future 2008 furni collection. Thanks to all involved, entries were very inspiring!

// FARMER WATCH

If you've checked out the product line and have a vague recollection of Skateboarding in the mid 1980's you've probably recognized some of the names of the collection (Alba, Gator,Templeton, Lee etc) The "FARMER" watch we just launched with coolhunting is a little more obscure. When we decided to do a white watch I was looking for a name to connect with the theme, remembering back to professional snowboarder Shawn Farmer's part in the 1991 snowboard movie "Critical Condition" I decided I'd bend the rules a bit and add some old school snowboarders names to the lineup. Based on the rapping that Shawn Farmer does in the video I am confident that he's the whitest boy alive, hence the tie in with the watch! Quoting the man himself "We do it my way, This is my Resume, We do it my way what did I say?". (Of Special Note: Hot-tub scene with no women in sight)

// GIVING BACK

After working on a wicked colab for our Alba EK model with awesome artist Emil Kozak we were lucky enough to help him out in bringing a design of his to life. We put together this one of a kind Table for him using silhouettes of himself and his girlfriend. It's pictured at home in his Barcelona apartment, We love it when a plan comes together.

The fine folks over at Big Chief design were rad enough to team up with us a second time to produce another limited edition freely downloadable toy, to step it up, we've even conceived a Big Chief look-a-like comp called "show us your Canadian moustaches" the winer( announced Jan 1st 2008) gets a one of a kind signed Alba!!! more here

We teamed up with Bob Kronbauer of Mumble Magazine to produce a limited edition of 50 pieces of this Alba “Little Giants” clock. They are being released to celebrate the launch of the DVD documentary series of the same name. Featuring hand silkscreened graphics using the artwork of Don Pendelton, the series first subject. The premiere issue of corduroy magazine is out and let me tell you it was worth waiting around for...a couple months back we were lucky enough to have a nice little interview with them and when I got my hands on the printed version last night I was very impressed!!! If you've not heard of the mag before here's their masthead "Corduroy is a magazine that profiles visionaries in the fields of art, music, film, fashion and design. // WE LOVE DWELL!!!!

Dwell magazine is at the forefront of reporting and showcasing clean, stylish, modern design, heck there slogan is "at home in a modern world" and that is why we love them. Our "alba" clock was fortunate enough to make it into this months issue (July/August 2007) and we couldn't be happier. The fact that there is a dude on a BMX and a muscle car in the driveway of the home featured on the cover is just icing on the cake!!
