It's not everyday that we get thankyou letters for our products, so today's mail was especially awesome when we got a thanks from Caroline in France for the watch she recently received. Merci Caro!!

It's really Wednesday, but "FLATBAR WEDNESDAY" didn't have the same ring....regardless we've got a few interns helping us out around the shop and I figured seeing as we have no money to pay them I could bribe them with fun. This is hopefully the first of many obstacles we are gonna make this summer now that I learned how to ghetto weld.

It's so lovely to catch a glimpse of one of our Furni X Raised by Wolves watches lounging about in it's preferred habitat at the beach....it knows not to venture into the waves (it could die, for it is only water "resistant") and admires them from afar. Ahhh Summer. Thanks Dan for the pic to remind us how lame our summer is stuck infront of a desk.

We did a rad "cigar" box with laser etching to compliment color magazines "a rolling perspective" show, it includes a tee shirt, Color X Momentum “Rolling Perspective” 58mm wheels, Color Magazine special photography edition and special D.I.Y. // CHARITY AUCTION - DON PENDLETON CLOCK!!

Furni Creations and Don Pendleton have teamed up to create two very unique alarm clocks to benefit EA. Each clock is hand made out of wood that comes from their friend Jason Frenette's 200 year old barn in the Swiss Alps, Once the clock were finished, Skateboard Artist, Don Pendleton painted some of his stylistic signature art on them for a one of a kind look. All proceeds benefit Elemental Awareness. More pics at the element site here,

nice to see our watches are making onto the arms of the tastemakers. Any site from the Netherlands that talks about fashion probably know what's up, so it's a nice compliment to see Ryan B (never met him) represent!

// MILAN PREVIEW

We are fortunate enough to have teamed up with our good friends over at Big Chief Design in Italy to do a small offsite event in Milan, featuring a display of our current products, an installation by Big Chief and some work be Jack Brandsma. We will also be unveiling our new colab clock with laser etched graphics of the "Big Chief" himself and a how it's made video (which you can watch below) All as part of design week in Milan!

// FURNI X RITA X REFORD GARDENS

We did this awesome installation for our good friends at Rita design studio as part of the "Canada Blooms" homeshow in Toronto, March 2009. The booth is for the client "Jardin des Metis/Reford Gardens" and is to promote their annual garden/show and festival. It took us three weeks to build, used close to 100 4' x 8' sheets of wood and I was trampled by kids after the show was opened, but it was well worth it.

the fine folks over at lifetime are doing a campaign with the Keep a Breast foundation called "Breast Friends 4 Life" and I'm one of the 28 invited artists. This was an honour and a serious challenge for me as I (a) do not consider myself and artist and (b) not used to working outside of a computer or woodshop. All in all I am quite happy with what I came up with...in case you didn't know the shape of the piece is an actual life cast of a female upper body, I was given it merely as a white plaster mold...mine is called "A friend in need is a friend indeed"

nice to get a little press from our hometown, this time for our Hulger colab called the "PAPPA" phone in NIGHTLIFE magazine, the article is in french, click on the image to read it if you are bilingual, if not it basically says the Furni is the wind beneath their wings and the editors want to mortgage their homes and give us money to keep on doing what we do (paraphrased)

Lasers are awesome, we just finished cutting out a bunch of trophy's for our design friends rita there are for an independant music gala and are made from laser cut records....rad.

Today is the day my friends, the wooden skype phone we have been working on for the past few months with the fine folks at Hulger in the UK just dropped, here are some pics of it....you can only imagine how proud of it we are!

MONTREAL OPENING RECEPTION AND “ART CRAWL” SATURDAY, JUNE 28

Etnies and Color Magazine asked skaters to shoot a photo of themselves from their own perspective, skateboarding. Over 200 portraits have been collected from skaters across Canada, the United States and as far as Japan. With the help of Fourstar Clothing, a selection of these self portraits of pro skateboarders, artists, and other talented individuals have been composed into an exhibition in celebration of skateboarding.

Come on out and check out the show and take a look at the special edition cigar boxes we created for the show to house a couple magazines, T-shirt and wheels all to celebrate this killer show!

So we just wrapped up production of a new collaborative effort between The fine folks at Beautiful Decay Mag and yours truly, available now at our online shop and theirs get em while they are hot!

Our second comp just wrapped up, what a way to bring in the new year! For the "Show us your Canadian Mustaches" comp all you had to do was send us a picture of you dressed like the latest “Furni meet Big Chief” cutout toy (brought to you by the fine folks at Big Chief Design in Milan Italy)by Jan 1st 2008! Heck the dudes at Big Chief design even created a mustache template to get contestants started! for a look at all the entries click here. The winner was Scott Krawitz of 10ton(studio) in Massachusetts in the U S of A. He will be getting his very own one of a kind "Furni X Big Chief" Alba clock!

// "SHOW US YOUR SKILLS" WINNER ANNOUNCED

What an awesome way to start the new year, we just announced the winner to our design your own clock competition that we called "Show Us Your Skills" it's Greg Wolos. His design the "Emily" is spot on and will make a great addition to a future 2008 furni collection. Thanks to all involved, entries were very inspiring!
